Ministry of Forestry Supports SERCOVA as Indonesia’s First IFM Carbon Project
On Tuesday, 4 August 2026, the Minister of Forestry, Raja Juli Antoni, and ministry officials received the board members and representatives of the Indonesia Carbon & Biodiversity Alliance (ICBA) at the Ministry of Forestry's Manggala Wanabakti headquarters in Jakarta.
During the meeting, Mr. Johan Satria Putra, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PT Strata Pacific and the Project Proponent of the SERCOVA (Seram Climate & Conservation) Project, had an opportunity to deliver an update on the project's current development status.
In his explanation, Mr. Putra highlighted that the SERCOVA Project is a pioneering forestry-sector carbon project in Indonesia and one of the project in Asia to apply the Improved Forest Management (IFM) methodology. SERCOVA Project also had a privilege to be one of the Indonesia's Carbon Project to have a presentation during COP 30 in Belem, Brazil.
PT Strata Pacific expressed its appreciation for the support provided by the Government of Indonesia, particularly the Ministry of Forestry, in accelerating the project's validation and verification process. This support has included facilitating multi-stakeholder discussions involving the Ministry of Forestry, the Project Proponent, the Verra Registry, and the Validation and Verification Body (VVB), enabling effective coordination among all relevant parties.
The SERCOVA Project has completed its Validation and Verification Report and is currently undergoing the project validation review at Verra Registry. Upon completion of the validation stage, the project will proceed to the review verification process to complete all the registration and ready to certificate issuance under the Verra Registry.
In addition, SERCOVA has formally submitted an application to the Minister of Forestry requesting approval for the issuance of a Non-SPE Gas Rumah Kaca (GRK) certificate, in accordance with the provisions of Ministry of Forestry Regulation (Permenhut) No. 6 of 2026.
With support from the Ministry of Forestry to accelerate the process, SERCOVA is expected to contribute to the Indonesian carbon market within the expected timeframe while maintaining a continuous emphasis on high-integrity and high-quality carbon credits.
