To strengthen coordination and preparedness in facing the risk of forest and land fires (Karhutla), SERCOVA held a Multistakeholder Synergy Meeting at the Bappeda Office Meeting Room, East Seram Regency (SBT) on August 7, 2026. The meeting was attended by 40 representatives from various agencies, including the SERCOVA Project, the Environmental Agency (DLH), the Forest Management Unit (KPH), and the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD).
During the forum, the SERCOVA Project explained that the period from June to November 2026 is expected to be drier, thereby increasing the risk of fires. To anticipate this, the SERCOVA Project has taken various preventive measures, ranging from community socialization and installing no-burning signs to conducting routine joint patrols from Monday to Friday alongside KPH, BKSDA, and the Fire Care Community (MPA).
The meeting resulted in several crucial agreements to accelerate fire management in the field. Stakeholders agreed to encourage the formation of a Forest Fire Handling Task Force (Satgas), create a joint communication group initiated by DLH, and regularize joint patrols. Bappeda Litbang also emphasized the importance of data integration and fire spot reporting from partners like the SERCOVA Project as a strong foundation for regional development planning and evaluation.
